FOR HIS WORK. WELL, ABBY LEVI BENT SAYS HE’S GOING TO WEAR MORE LOGOS. MORE COMPANY LOGOS WHEN HE GOES OUT NOW, BUT HE WANTS PEOPLE TO KNOW HE DIDN’T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH ANY BURGLARY. EDMOND POLICE SAY THE POST ACCUSING HIM WAS ANONYMOUS AND WRONG. YOU THINK YOU’RE IN TROUBLE WITH THE POLICE? YOU DON’T KNOW IF YOU COULD POTENTIALLY GO TO JAIL FOR A CRIME YOU DIDN’T. COMMIT. THIS RING DOORBELL VIDEO SHOWS A MAN GOING INTO THE HOUSE AND LATER LEAVING WITH A TUB FULL OF ITEMS. THE HOMEOWNER HAD LEFT FOR THE AFTERNOON TO STAY WITH A FRIEND CAME HOME AND COULD TELL THAT HER HOUSE HAD BEEN BROKEN INTO. IN THE MEANTIME. AN ANONYMOUS NEIGHBOR SAID IN A RING POST THAT THIS MAN WAS THE ONE WHO DID THE CRIME. I AM THE PESKY NEIGHBORHOOD ROOFER, SO I KNOCK ON EACH AND EVERY SINGLE DOOR I SEE THAT HAS SOME SORT OF ROOFING DAMAGE. THAT GENTLEMAN IS NOT INVOLVED. LEVI BENT IS THE MAN YOU SEE IN THE NEIGHBORS RING FOOTAGE, AND BOTH HE AND POLICE CONFIRM HE WAS JUST GOING DOOR TO DOOR FOR WORK LIKE HE ALWAYS DOES AT THE END OF THE DAY. I MEAN, WHEN YOU’RE BEING ACCUSED OF A CRIME, IT’S PRETTY SHOCKING, BENT SAYS. WHEN SOMEONE FIRST SHOWED HIM THE POST, HE SET UP A MEETING WITH POLICE TO CLEAR HIS NAME. WE WENT UP THERE AND SHE SAID, WELL, I KNOW YOU’RE NOT THE GUY WHO DID IT. UNLESS YOU CAN GROW A BEARD IN TWO DAYS. POLICE SAY RING FOOTAGE CAN BE HELPFUL IN THEIR INVESTIGATIONS, BUT IT’S IMPORTANT TO USE IT WISELY. THIS IS ONE WAY THAT YOU CAN SEE CAN KIND OF CAUSE CONFUSION. A roofer caught up in a social media accusation said he wants to clear his name after he was called a suspect in an Edmond burglary. Levi Bent said he will now start wearing more logos when he goes out on a job. You don’t know if you could potentially go to jail for a crime you didn’t commit," Bent said. Ring Doorbell video showed a man going into a house and later leaving with a tub full of items. “The homeowner had left for the afternoon to stay with a friend. Came home and could tell that her house had been broken into," said Emily Ward, the public information officer with the Edmond Police Department. An anonymous neighbor said in a Ring post that Bent was the one who did the crime. “I am your pesky neighborhood roofer. So I knock on each and every single door I see that has some roofing damage," Bent said. Police said the post accusing Bent was anonymous and wrong. “That gentleman is not involved," Ward said. Bent said he was just going door-to-door for work like he always does. “At the end of the day, when you’re being accused of a crime, it’s pretty shocking," Bent said. When someone first showed Bent the post, he said he immediately set up a meeting with police to clear his name.
