CAMPUS. EVAN AND JESS. THAT’S RIGHT. THEY SERVE AS AN ORGANIZATION IN HELPING THE STILLWATER COMMUNITY. AND THEY SAY AFTER THIS MORNING, SEXUAL ASSAULT NEAR THE CAMPUS. IT’S A GREAT REMINDER FOR VICTIMS TO SPEAK UP AND THAT ABOUT 90% OF SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS ARE WOMEN. UM, SO YOU EXTRAPOLATE THAT TO A COLLEGE CAMPUS, AND THAT’S A PRETTY LARGE NUMBER OF STUDENTS. AND WINGS OF HOPE SERVES THE STILLWATER COMMUNITY AS AN ADVOCACY ORGANIZATION THAT AIMS AT BREAKING THE CYCLE OF VIOLENCE. THEY PARTNER WITH OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY’S SEXUAL ASSAULT PREVENTION PROGRAM, CALLED ONE TWO. MANY. OFTENTIMES, VICTIMS DON’T WANT TO REPORT THAT TO LAW ENFORCEMENT OR TO THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY, AND THEY REALLY JUST NEED SOMEONE TO SPEAK WITH WHO IS AN ADVOCATE ON THEIR BEHALF. AND IN THAT CASE, THEY REACH OUT TO US DIRECTLY AND WE CAN PROVIDE THOSE SERVICES PRIVATELY AS WELL. THE NONPROFIT HAS WRAPAROUND SERVICES FOR VICTIMS LIKE PROVIDING SHELTER, COUNSELING SERVICES AND MORE. WE HELP WITH PROTECTIVE ORDERS FOR STALKING, AND THAT’S DEFINITELY A A SITUATION THAT WE SEE ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES AS SEXUAL ASSAULT IS OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES AND EVEN DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AFTER A STUDENT AT OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY REPORTED AN ASSAULT FRIDAY, WINGS OF HOPE IS HOPING TO RAISE AWARENESS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF ASKING FOR HELP. I WOULD JUST ENCOURAGE THEM TO REACH OUT TO AN ADVOCATE. IT’S IT’S NOT ALWAYS, UM, THE BURDEN ISN’T ON THEM TO DETERMINE WHETHER SOMETHING IS A CRIME OR NOT. A CRIME, OR IF IT NEEDS A MEDICAL EXAM OR NOT NEEDS A MEDICAL EXAM. ALL OF THOSE QUESTIONS, UM, THEY REALLY NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO TO HELP THEM SORT ALL OF THAT OUT. AND STILLWATER PD HAS NOT YET FOUND THAT SUSPECT, BUT THEY ARE URGING STUDENTS TO STAY VIGILANT AND REPORT ANY INFORMATION THAT YOU HAVE REPORTING LIVE IN
