TEMPLE. YEAH. ABBY AND JESS OVER THE WEEKEND, ABC NEWS REPORTED 300 THREATS IN 30 STATES TARGETING THE JEWISH COMMUNITY. NOW, TODAY, OKLAHOMA JOINED THE LIST OF STATES FACING SOME OF THOSE BOGUS BOMB THREATS AND IT’S REALLY HAS PUT THE COMMUNITY ON HIGH ALERT. THE IMMEDIATE RESPONSE IS, YOU KNOW, CRISIS MANAGEMENT. HOW CAN I HELP THE LOCAL JEWISH TEMPLE THAT WAS TARGETED, A BOGUS BOMB THREAT FORCING IRNA CROUCH PRESCHOOL TO SHUT THEIR DOORS MONDAY. OKC POLICE SAY THE THREAT WAS MADE VIA EMAIL. FROM THE JEWISH COMMUNITY HAS BEEN A TARGETED COMMUNITY FOR DECADES, HUNDREDS OF YEARS SINCE REALLY THE BEGINNING OF TIME, WE HAVE BEEN PREPARED FOR ALL SORTS OF THINGS AND WE’VE ALWAYS BEEN VIGILANT. ANYTIME THERE IS CONFLICT IN ISRAEL, ANTI-SEMITISM DOES RISE HERE IN THE U.S. THIS MAP FROM THE ANTI-DEFAMATION LEAGUE SHOWS OVER 30 ANTI-SEMITIC INCIDENTS IN OKLAHOMA FROM JANUARY TO JUNE OF THIS YEAR. BUT THE ANTI-DEFAMATION LEAGUE SAYS THERE’S BEEN A RECORD HIGH NUMBER OF CASES REPORTED SINCE OCTOBER. NATIONWIDE AND OVER 2000 CASES. THE NUMBER OF ANTI SEMITIC EVENTS RISING 337% REGARDLESS OF THE VALIDITY OF A THREAT, IT IS STILL A THREAT NONETHELESS, AND IT STILL WILL STRIKE FEAR AND PEOPLE. Police investigated what turned out to be a fake bomb threat at a northwest Oklahoma City synagogue on Monday. Authorities told KOCO 5 that Temple B'nai Israel received a bomb threat Monday morning via email. Details about the threat were not released. The Jewish Federation of Greater Oklahoma City said in a statement that this was a hoax bomb threat that's among numerous that have recently been reported. "As antisemitic incidents rise around the globe, we are grateful for the Oklahoma City Police Department, OSBI, FBI and our security officers who help identify and stop threats," Jewish Federation of Greater Oklahoma City officials said in the statement. "As the last lights from our Hanukkah candles went out, last week, don't let the light go out. Continue to find ways to bring light to one another through these dark times.
