Missing dog found safe after being gone for nearly 5 months
THIS MIRACULOUS RECOVERY. IT’S THE WORST NIGHTMARE OF ANY DOG GROOMER. THAT’S ROSE SHOEMAKER. SHE GROOMS DOGS RIGHT NEXT TO HER HOME ON SPITFIRE FARMS. IT WAS HER THIRD OR FOURTH TIME GROOMING GOLDEN RETRIEVER MOLLY IN JUNE, SHE WAS TIED IN JUST LIKE THIS LITTLE DOG HERE WITH ANOTHER ONE. BUT THEN SHE ESCAPED AND RAN THROUGH THE DOOR ONTO SHOEMAKER AND HER HUSBAND’S FARM. MOLLY’S OWNERS. THE RUTH FAMILY, DIDN’T THINK IT WAS A BIG DEAL AT FIRST. I DIDN’T THINK IT WAS ANY BIG DEAL. WE’D PROBABLY FIND HER, YOU KNOW. AND YEAH, IN A DAY OR TWO, YOU KNOW, SHE’LL SHOW UP SOMEWHERE AND SHE WAS SPOTTED ABOUT 4 OR 5 DIFFERENT TIMES, BUT SHE KEPT RUNNING AWAY. THAT WAS UNTIL ONE OF THE FARM WORKERS BUMPED INTO MOLLY ON A COMBINE ON SUNDAY. ROSE SAYS HIS FIRST QUESTION WAS WHETHER OR NOT MOLLY WAS ALIVE. HE SAID SHE’S ALIVE. HE SAID SHE STOOD UP AS HE WAS COMING THROUGH THE FIELD WITH THE COMBINE AND HE ACTUALLY PUSHED HER A LITTLE BIT WITH THE THE CORN HEAD AND DIDN’T REALIZE IT UNTIL SHE JUMPED UP AND SHE WALKED IN FRONT OF HIM. AND NOW MOLLY IS BACK AT HOME WITH THE RUTH’S FOUR AND A HALF MONTHS AFTER SHE WENT MISSING, SHE LOST NEARLY 40 POUNDS FROM WHEN SHE FIRST WENT MISSING. BUT ALL SIGNS POINT TO MOLLY BEING OKAY. THE RUTH’S SAY THEY HAVE NO HARD FEELINGS TOWARDS SHOEMAKER FOR THE MISTAKE. NO, NO, IT’S AN ACCIDENT, YOU KNOW. AND SHOEMAKER SAYS SHE LEARNED AN IMPORTANT LESSON. FROM NOW ON, DOOR IS NEVER OPEN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. SHOEMAKER SAYS SHE WILL PAY FOR MOLLY’S VET BILLS TO HELP REPAY HER DEBT TO THE RUTH FAMILY IN

Molly had been spotted several times since June but had not been caught until Sunday when one of the farm workers bumped into Molly on a combine. She was microchipped, but did not have a collar.

Molly's owners, Randy and Cynthia Ruth, said their first question was whether or not Molly was alive.

"He said she's alive. He said she stood up as he was coming through the field with the combine," Randy Ruth said. "He actually pushed her a little bit with the corn head and didn't realize it until she jumped up and she walked in front of him."

Now Molly is back at home with the Ruths 4 1/2 months after she went missing.

She lost nearly 40 pounds from when she first went missing, but all signs point to Molly being OK.

Shoemaker said finding the golden retriever was the highlight of her whole year.

"It's the worst nightmare of any dog groomer," she said. "From now on, the door is never open under any circumstances."

The Ruths say they have no hard feelings towards Shoemaker.
