THAT FIRE IS OUT NOW, BUT CREWS SAY WHEN THEY GOT TO THAT SCENE AROUND 4:00 THIS MORNING, THEY FOUND HEAVY SMOKE AND FIRE COMING OUT OF THE ATTIC OF THAT HOME. CREWS SAY THEY WERE ABLE TO KEEP THE FIRE FROM SPREADING TO THE REST OF THE HOUSE, BUT THOSE OFFICIALS TELL US A FAMILY OF FOUR WERE INSIDE WHEN THE FIRE STARTED ALONG WITH THEIR PET BIRDS. CREWS SAY EVERYONE WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT OUT SAFELY. THEY ALSO TELL US THE COOLER TEMPERATURES HAVE MADE IT MUCH EASIER TO PUT OUT THE FLAMES. IT MAKES US EASIER, BUT WE’RE NOT EXHAUSTED. WE’RE ABLE TO WORK A WHOLE LOT LONGER. WE’RE A WHOLE LOT HARDER. CREWS SAY THEY DON’T HAVE A CAUSE FOR THAT FIRE YET, BUT ARE WORKING TO FIND OUT WHAT SPARKED IT IN OKLAHOMA CITY. AUDREY GOODSON, KOCO FIVE NEWS AND SEVERAL DEPARTMENTS CALLED OUT TO A HOUSE FIRE EARLY THIS MORNING AS WELL. THIS ONE BROKE OUT ON GREENWOOD, NEAR NORTHEAST, 36 AROUND 145 NICOMA PARK, CHOCTAW AND SPENCER. FIRE DEPARTMENTS WERE CALLED OUT. THE CAUSE IS NOT KNOWN. WE’RE STILL WORKING TO BRING YOU MORE DETAILS AS WE GET THESE. WELL, DEVELOPING OVERNIGHT, POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING AN EARLY MORNING SHOOTING. IT HAPPENED AROUND 330 THIS MORNING AT A HOTEL OFF OF I-30 DRIVE IN SOUTHEAST 25TH. KOCO, SHELBY MONTGOMERY HAS THE DETAILS. GOOD MORNING. POLICE SAY ONE PERSON WAS SHOT AND ANOTHER WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY. IT APPEARED THAT HE HAD GONE UP TO A ROOM. HE WAS AN EMPLOYEE OF THE HOTEL AND WENT UP TO A ROOM TO TALK TO ONE OF THE RESIDENTS IN THE ROOM. AND FOR WHATEVER REASON, THE PERSON IN THAT ROOM OPENED FIRE ON HIM, HITTING HIM IN THE SHOULDER. POLICE SAY THAT VICTIM HAD NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES AND WHEN THEY ARRIVED, THE SUSPECT DID SURRENDER AND WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY. POLICE HAVE NOT SAID WHY THAT SUSPECT FIRED HIS GUN. NOW UNDER INVESTIGATION. AUTHORITIES SAY A TRUCK SPUN OUT CRASHES THE CABLE BARRIERS AND STOPPED IN THE ROAD. A SEMI THEN HIT THE TRUCK. THE DRIVER, AN 82 YEAR OLD MAN FROM CHOCTAW, WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD ON THE SCENE. THE DRIVER OF THE SEMI WAS NOT HURT AND TODAY IS A SPECIAL ELECTION DAY HERE IN OKLAHOMA. VOTERS IN EIGHT COUNTIES ARE BEING ASKED TO SAY YES TO $75 MILLION ON THE CANADIAN VALLEY TECHNOLOGY CENTER. THE BOND WOULD PAY FOR SOME CLASSROOM UPDATES TO ENCOURAGE STUDENTS SAY THEIR CLASSES ARE AT MAX CAPACITY AND THIS BOND COULD HELP GET MORE STUDENTS IN. Police are searching for a driver who ran over two people hiding from gunshots and took off Monday night in southeast Oklahoma City.Open the video player above to see some of the headlines KOCO 5 is following.Officers initially responded to a report that shots had been fired near Southeast 59th Street and Shields Boulevard. When they got there, police said it was chaos, and it took some time to put together the pieces.“Apparently, there was a large group of people in the streets having some sort of issue with each other,” MSgt. They heard gunshots quickly drove to that area,” Knight said. “They saw people fleeing and running everywhere.
