Caden Kennedy and the dispatcher who answered the call were honored for their bravery with an award from the Moore Police Department on Thursday for their calm response that could have saved the grandmother's life. >> Download the KOCO 5 App"You made tough decisions, and you answered a lot of questions, right?" police Chief Todd Gibson said to Kennedy. "I was just focusing on my grandma and trying to help her," Kennedy said. After his grandma fell and was bleeding, his quick thinking turned into life-saving measures. "We are so excited when we have somebody like you that can rise to the level of hero status like you have done in this situation," Gibson said. Cool, calm and collected, Kennedy picked up the phone and called 911. "Tell me exactly what happened," said the dispatcher. "My grandma, she has MS, and she was walking to come stand by the table, and she fell and hit her head on a metal chair, and she's bleeding," Kennedy said. "Is there serious bleeding?" the dispatcher said. "Yes," Kennedy said. Get the latest news stories of interest by clicking here.He stopped the bleeding until paramedics arrived. Kennedy was honored for stepping up to the plate. The dispatcher who walked him through the call was also honored. She said as soon as she heard Kennedy's age, she put herself in his shoes. Together, they were able to make sure Kennedy's grandma got the help she needed. "That day kind of painted a picture of what kind of adult he can grow up to be and the potential that he has to do great things," said dispatcher Keara Duncomb.
