HOW AN EVERYDAY ERRAND QUICKLY TURNED INTO A PRETTY SCARY SITUATION. I SPOKE WITH A MOM WHO SAYS SHE HAD HER BELONGINGS STOLEN RIGHT FROM UNDERNEATH HER, AND NOW SHE’S SENDING A MESSAGE TO OTHER PARENTS TO NOT JUST KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR THEIR SAFETY, BUT ALSO THEIR CHILDREN’S SAFETY. I NOTICED HE HAD A HAND IN HIS SWEATSHIRT, ALMOST AS IF HE WAS CONCEALING SOMETHING. BUT I DON’T ACTUALLY THINK HE WAS ARMED. AND THEN HE SAW MY BAG SITTING THERE, GRABBED IT AND TOOK OFF. AND I TOOK OFF AFTER HIM. SHE SAYS SHE CHASED HIM TO THE END OF THE PARKING LOT, BUT THAT’S WHEN THE SUSPECT JUMPED INTO A GETAWAY CAR AFTER THE INCIDENT, SHE POSTED TO FACEBOOK GROUP FOR EDMOND MOMS TO SPREAD THE WORD TO OTHER PARENTS. SHE SAYS SHE’S GRATEFUL HER CHILDREN WEREN’T THERE WHEN IT HAPPENED. THANKFULLY, MY KIDS WERE AT HOME. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT IF THEY HAD BEEN THERE, SHE EXPLAINED. THE SUSPECT STOLE HER PURSE CONTAINING HER PHONE, CAR KEYS, AIRPODS, $500 IN CASH, CREDIT CARDS AND MORE. BUT THE BIGGEST SCARE FROM THE INCIDENT WAS THE FACT THAT IT HAPPENED IN A PLACE WHERE MANY PEOPLE FEEL SAFE. NOW, PARENTS IN THE AREA ARE SPREADING THE WORD, HOPING TO KEEP EVERYONE AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE. WE ALL KIND OF HAD THE SAME THOUGHT, LIKE, MAN, MAYBE WE DO NEED TO BE MORE CAREFUL. YOU KNOW, I DO NEED TO LATCH MY BAG TO THE TO THE CART. I DO NEED TO KEEP A HAND ON MY KIDS AND MAYBE MY OLDER KIDS THAT COME HERE ALONE NEED TO BE MORE AWARE, NEED TO BE MORE OBSERVANT OF THE
