Authorities are investigating a disturbing case of animal cruelty after more than 100 animal carcasses were found at a property in eastern Oklahoma.

Authorities said in a news release that the property owner, who has a verbal lease agreement with the people living there, went to the property and noticed several dead cows. He called the sheriff's office, and when deputies arrived, they got a search warrant and found about 104 animal carcasses – one dog and 103 cows.
"Just having to be out there and the odor and the flies," Sheriff Andy Simmons told Tulsa-area television station KJRH. "You know what a ranch smells like, you know? Not death when you step out of your truck."
A veterinarian was called to the scene, and they euthanized a calf. The news release states that the calf was taken to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater to determine if it died of disease or malnourishment.
Authorities also impounded about 40 cows and four horses to a neighboring ranch. Muskogee city officials impounded seven dogs.
The sheriff's office said it also impounded a stolen Kubota tractor.
Authorities arrested two people who are awaiting charges.
