Police told KOCO 5 that the situation started with a call around midnight to a home near Northwest 36th and Villa, where they found a woman dead inside a home. Authorities said they believe a man who lived at the residence crashed his motorcycle into a cable barrier on Interstate 44 near Western.
The deadly crash caused the eastbound lanes of I-44 to be closed while police investigated.
Police said the man allegedly killed the woman and then texted a family member saying he had killed her and was going to take his own life. The man was then involved in the fatal motorcycle crash.
The family member notified 911 shortly after receiving the text message, and officers responded to both scenes shortly afterward. Police found the woman who appeared to have been beaten to death inside the home.
Police say they are investigating the deaths as a possible murder-suicide.
The Oklahoma City Police Department identified the victim as Carla Dawn Evans, 59. Authorities also identified the suspect as Ernest Harlow, 61.
