OF THE 40 ARRESTED NEAR SOUTH ROBINSON, 39 WERE MEN. OFFICIALS SAY THAT AREA CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM FOR THEM. BUT A GOOD PORTION OF THIS ACTIVITY IS ALSO HAPPENING ONLINE. WE WANT PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT IF THEY’RE GOING TO GO OUT AND ENGAGE AND ENGAGE IN THIS TYPE OF ACTIVITY, YOU MAY END UP WITH A PROSTITUTE OR YOU MAY END UP GOING TO JAIL. YOU DON’T KNOW IF THAT PERSON THAT YOU’RE PURCHASING THESE SERVICES FROM IS AN ACTUAL SEX WORKER OR IF IT’S A POLICE OFFICER WAITING TO ARREST YOU FOR THIS TYPE OF ACTIVITY. POLICE SAY THEY ARE PUBLICIZED USING THESE STINGS MORE BECAUSE THEY WANT THE PUBLIC TO KNOW THAT THEY ARE OUT THERE CRACKING DOWN. IN TOTAL, THERE WERE 14 FELONY ARRESTS. The Oklahoma City Police Department arrested 40 people in a prostitution sting earlier this month. Police then made arrests based on those who showed interest. Of the 40 people arrested, 39 of them were men. One woman was arrested on South Robinson. You don't know if the person that you're purchasing these services from is an actual sex worker or if it's a police officer waiting to arrest you for these types of activities," said Msgt. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department. The department said they are publicizing these stings more because they want the public to be aware that they are addressing their concerns.
