Family and friends continue the mission of a World War II veteran who was determined to meet all 50 governors.
A new car was unveiled Wednesday that will help them complete this mission, which is called the No Regrets Tour.
"The message was to give people the chance – especially younger people – the chance to meet someone who fought for the country so long ago," family friend Dave Topaz said.
World War II veteran Sidney Walton made his way across 40 states and stopped in Oklahoma in September to meet with Gov. Kevin Stitt.
"A lot of the people he fought with were from this state, so he just felt like he was coming home in a way for them," Topaz said.
Oklahoma was Walton’s last stop before he died at the age of 102. Now, his loved ones wrapped the car and renamed the tour: The No Regrets Memorial Tour.
The car was unveiled today at the Oklahoma state Capitol, and Topaz continues what Walton started.
"I wanted to do something, and a lot of people weren't stepping up. And I said, 'I can do it,' and here I am. I’m doing it," he said.
Topaz has now rolled out of Oklahoma and is headed to New Mexico to meet with Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham. Walton’s son will take over and end the tour in Delaware, completing his dad’s mission.
