Math teacher sings lessons to tune of her students' favorite Disney songs

awesome. Now let's try to comfort questions. They're not happy, affectionate home. I'm Kristin Buck, and I'm 1/6 grade math teacher at all. Sets out what is a variable. What's the definition? And because we're giving the definitions. And one of them burst out singing, um, into the unknown because the new frozen to had just come out. So I should just seen it. This is how I grew up, learning a lot of things to We watch Schoolhouse Rock all the time, and I would remember things a lot better in song so often times any time you're starting a new concept, introduce it. I would go on YouTube and, like search forever for different songs. Lie for the I love Disney. So I just thought, I'm gonna take all of my favorite Disney songs and she was different math topics. Got seven right in a row, good job. And then once we started doing and see I and I had a lot more engagement with my students. Check and and watch number Google Classroom. I started trying to make them about the topics that they were going to be doing on the choice sports as well as they would give me a quest for song. So they they were like, What do the one from Alana now did? The other one from a one I did Beauty and the Beast and made it about inequality is because I was like, oh, feeding the beast and Inequality said the same number of syllables. And so that's really the base of it. I just count the number number of syllables. Hopefully, if I could make something as catchy, don't get those lyrics stuck in their head and, if nothing else, still use those to figure in the Disney songs. A lot of kids like myself, we we watch Disney and grew up with that. So the tunes air familiar and putting anything to music to make it catchy and repetitive something that can get stuck in your head will help in an understanding of any funds up around my plans to, you know,

Teachers have found all kinds of ways to get creative and stay connected with their students during non-traditional learning. Kirsten Buck is a sixth grade math teacher with Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville, Kentucky.She is changing the lyrics of several Disney songs like, "Into the Unknown" from Frozen II to teach her math lessons. "I did 'Beauty and the Beast' and made it about inequalities. 'I was like, oh inequalities is the same number of syllables,'" Buck said. "So, I just count the number of syllables, and hopefully if I can make something that's catchy, they'll get those lyrics stuck in their head and use those to figure things out."Buck said her students are familiar with the songs and often ask for her to sing them again.
